Cars need a lot of maintenance to ensure not only their safety on the road but to save you time and money down the track. One of the most important yet simple things you can do is to check your cars fluids. This consists of checking engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid and water. To monitor these fluids is quite an easy task, all you need to do is lift your car’s hood and have a look.
Listed below are the top 4 fluids to check and when to check them:
– Check your oil once a month – Look at your cars manual which will let you know when your car’s engine oil needs replacing, time frames depend on the make of the car
– Check your transmission fluid once a month – This should be replaced 40,000km to 100,000km
– Coolant should be checked twice yearly, once before summer and once before winter – Look at your cars manual which will let you know when your car’s coolant needs replacing, time frames depend on the make of the car
– Check once a month – Brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years or when the brakes get done
If you are unsure on how to change any fluids or think your car may be leaking fluid send us an email or call BP Workshop on 3207 2224 to organise a time to drop in
