We have listed a few recalls that have taken place in the last few weeks:

Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific Pty Ltd — Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars “C” Class 63s

What are the defects?

Torque peaks may arise in the drivetrain in the vehicle under pulling-away manoeuvres on a wet road. This may lead to failure of the drive shaft.

What are the hazards?

May result in a loss of propulsion, increasing the risk of an accident.

What should consumers do?

Consumers should contact their nearest Authorised Mercedes-Benz Retailer for an update to the software of the ESP control units and, if necessary, the suspension control unit.

Kia Motors Australia — 2017 YP Carnival

What are the defects?

Due to a manufacturing issue, the vacuum hose to the brake booster may become weak over time resulting in the potential for the hose to collapse when vacuum is applied. This could lead the brake pedal to become hard when applying the pedal repeatedly. As a result, increased pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance.

What are the hazards?

If the defect occurs, it is then only possible to slow the vehicle with an increased level of brake pedal pressure. This may pose a hazard to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Customers will be contacted by direct mail and they should contact their nearest Kia Dealer to arrange an inspection and repair free of charge.

FCA Australia Pty Ltd — 2012-2013 (KK) Jeep Cherokee

What are the defects?

An internal failure in the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) may result in the inability to deploy an Active Headrest (AHR) function during certain rear-end crashes.

What are the hazards?

The Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) on the vehicle may cause an airbag warning lamp to illuminate due to an internal failure in the ORC. This may result in the inability to deploy the Active Headrest (AHR) function. The inability to deploy the AHR function during certain rear-end crashes may increase the risk of injury to front seat occupants during such rear- end crashes.

What should consumers do?

FCA Australia will notify owners by sending a courtesy letter, until replacement parts become available. Once the replacement parts become available, owners will receive a second letter advising to schedule a service booking with their nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge repair centre, who will inspect the ORC and replace it if necessary.

Daimler Truck & Bus Australia Pacific Pty Ltd — Mercedes-Benz Atego 970 Truck

What are the defects?

A deeply contoured weld seam on the rear axle housing was not welded correctly during the production process on certain vehicles of the Atego 970.

What are the hazards?

The incorrect weld could decrease the amount of force the rear axle housing is capable of withstanding/transferring and could lead to crack formation and breakage, increasing the risk of an accident for the occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Owners are advised to contact their authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle dealership to have the rear axle housing replaced free of charge.

Just Suspension — WEBCO Front Shock Absorbers for Mitsubishi Pajero MY2000 onward

What are the defects?

In certain circumstances, the shock absorber could fail and cause potential separation of suspension components.

What are the hazards?

If the shock absorber fails while the vehicle is in motion, there is a risk of loss of control of the vehicle, posing a potential accident hazard to the driver and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Consumers who have the affected shock absorbers should immediately stop using them and contact Just Suspension by phone on 02 8809 8136 (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm AEST) or email sales@justsuspension.com.au(link sends e-mail) to receive a set of replacement shock absorbers or a full refund of the purchase price.

Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd — MY 2013-2017 NW & NX Pajero

What are the defects?

Passenger’s airbag inflator: If an affected vehicle is involved in an accident and the airbag goes off, the airbag inflator may rupture.

What are the hazards?

In the event of an airbag inflator rupture, metal fragments could possibly shoot out, straight through the airbag cushion material towards the vehicle occupants causing serious injury or fatality.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will receive a letter from Mitsubishi Motors Australia asking them to contact their preferred dealer to arrange replacement of the airbag inflator free of charge. If they have not already done so, owners must immediately contact a Mitsubishi dealership to arrange the repairs urgently.

Consumers who require further information should contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia on 1300 131 211 or contact their preferred dealer. For help locating a Mitsubishi dealer please go to: https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/customer-assistance/locate-a-servic…

Nissan Motor Co (Australia) Pty Ltd — Nissan D23 Navara & R52 Pathfinder Series 1 Models

What are the defects?

Due to insufficient bolt torque, the nudge bar roll hoop fixing bolts may come loose causing the roll hoop to rattle and in rare instances, may detach from the vehicle.

What are the hazards?

If the bolted connections become detached or the components fail, the nudge bar may detach from the vehicle, posing an accident risk to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should consumers do?

Once parts availability is confirmed, Nissan will contact owners of affected vehicles at their last known address, with instructions to contact a Nissan dealership to arrange for the nudge bar to be reworked free of charge.

Owners can find their nearest dealership using the “Find a Dealer” tab at http://www.nissan.com.au/(link is external)

Nissan Motor Co (Australia) Pty Ltd — Infiniti V37 Q50/Q60

What are the defects?

The function to indicate Automatic Transmission failure was not programmed in the Electronic Control Module (ECM). This was due to a mismatch of On-Board Diagnosis communication architecture between the new Electronic Control Module and old Controlled Area Network.

What are the hazards?

The Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) does not illuminate and the driver is unaware of the concern, which may be an emissions regulation non-compliance.

What should consumers do?

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by direct mail and advised to contact their Infiniti Dealer to have the ECM reprogrammed with updated logic.
